Dartmouth Regatta Report

Wednesday 12th April 2017

Saturday 8th April 2017 saw The Dart Gig Club host their wonderful regatta with ten cornish pilot gigs from top clubs competing in a dog leg course running from a start line near Dartmouth harbour's fuel barge down to the castle and back to a finish line off Dartmouth Yacht Club. The weather was wonderfully warm and sunny, the tide gently ebbed in the morning as the racing started and two poiporses played in the river close to the finish line just to add a special treat to the many spectators.

It was a day of mixed fortunes for Lyme Regis Gig Club in what is the last regatta before the World Championships in the Isles of Scilly, which take pace on April 28/29/30th.

The Lyme results were: Ladies Supervets - 5; Ladies A - 6; Mens Supervets - 1; Mens A - 5; Juniors - 4; Ladies B - 7; Ladies Vets -6; Mens B -2; Mens Vets -3; Ladies C - 9; Mens C - 7.
